COMMUNITY

Christ is formed in us when we spend time together in community.

We live in a time and a place where connecting with others is hard. We all want to know others and be known but we often don't know where to start.  At Saint Andrew's we believe this happens when we gather in intentional community, seeking Christ together through the means of the Word, prayer, and fellowship. It is in these groups that we are able to experience the richness of discipleship–having Christ formed in us.

Outside of corporate worship, our discipleship has three primary rhythms: Discipleship Groups, Community Parties, and Hospitality

Home Groups

Our home groups are a small gathers that meet bi-weekly to spend time in prayer, and fellowship around a table.  It is in these smaller groups that we are able to share deeply, and experience the healing love of Christ applied to our hearts through each other.

Community Parties

We are a community who likes to have fun together. In order to be filled with the joy of Christ we have to practice. When we have fun and build memories with one another, it helps us learn to trust each other with the deeper things in life. Because of this, we try to have a community party with one another once a quarter.

Hospitality

Hospitality comes from the greek word “philoxenos” which means the love of stranger. In other words it is extending the benefits of the family to those on the outside. It is really important to us to cultivate a community that reaches out, in order to extend our table to one another. Hospitality isn’t a program for us, it is a way of living. We have intentionally left our church calendar as open as possible to encourage the building of our community through table to table connections.

If you are curious what this might be like, we invite you to take a leap of faith and invite someone over to your house. You might just enjoy yourself.

 Immanuel Classical School

Out of a desire to see our children raised and discipled up in the gospel, we have decided to start a classical Christian School in the heart of Yakima. Our hope and prayer is that this ministry serves our community to help the church at large in Yakima raise our children to love God in the world.
