Discipleship Groups

What are Discipleship Groups?

Discipleship Groups (D-Groups) are a three-year ministry designed to equip members of Saint Andrew's to live as disciples of Christ who worship, lead, and speak truth in their homes, the church, and the world. D-Groups foster deep spiritual growth through Scripture, shared reading, and deep community. Small groups of 5–6 men or women meet regularly to pray together, hold one another accountable, and work through robust biblical truth so that we will be formed in Christ and equipped to fulfill the Great Commission in Yakima.

Why Join a D-Group?

D-Groups are specifically designed to help you:

  • Deepen your love for God through worship, prayer, and Scripture (Year 1: Priest).

  • Grow as a faithful leader in your family, church, and community (Year 2: King).

  • Proclaim and defend God's truth with confidence (Year 3: Prophet).

  • Build lasting relationships with fellow believers, encouraging mutual growth

  • Root your faith in the same confession held by your family, this church, and centuries of believers before you.

What to Expect?

As a D-Group member, you'll experience:

  • Meetings: Groups gather regularly in a home, for prayer, Scripture, and discussion.

  • Three-Year Curriculum: Each year (Priest, King, or Prophet) includes three terms (Home, Church, World). Alongside each term's book, groups also work through a portion of the Westminster Shorter Catechism; a few questions at a time, building toward the whole of it across three years. Terms cover topics like:

    • Year 1 (Priest): Personal devotion and the daily rule of life, corporate worship, and receiving God's good gifts with joy.

    • Year 2 (King): Family worship and leadership, our confession and life together as a church, and faithful engagement with culture and work.

    • Year 3 (Prophet): How our loves and habits are formed, the sacraments and means of grace, and confident, winsome apologetics.

  • Studying Scripture Together: Alongside the term's book, your group may work through a book of the Bible together — a chance to sit in the text itself, not just talk around it.

  • One Shared Book: Each term centers on a single book everyone in the group reads together, with room for groups who want to go further to do so, under their leader's guidance.

  • Spiritual Growth: Expect deeper faith, practical skills (e.g., prayer, apologetics), and stronger relationships with others in the church.

Your Commitment

A D-Group asks something real of you — because anything that actually forms you has to. Each year, members commit to attend faithfully, keep up with the reading, pray daily, and hold what's shared in the group in confidence. That's the trade: a year of real commitment, for a kind of growth you won't get any other way.
